A soggy start to October but the Two Harbors dog pack keeps coming out for more! Saturday’s meetup featured a dozen pups running wild despite cold, wet and blustery conditions. Wednesday’s meetup was a beach party after a full day of steady rain made the dog park into a fish tank! Better days ahead!
On Thursday, October 16th, every dog can be a bulldog! The University of Minnesota’s Homecoming Parade will feature its first ever “Mutt Strutt”. The parade of pooches will assemble near Michigan and Lake Avenue in Duluth. The Parade route will proceed down Superior street between Lake and 5th Avenue West. If you’d like to participate or need more info, here’s a link to their website. You can download entry forms, register online and get more details…

Wuf, wuf to all of you and a happy good night. Barb and Jack Ion
Thanks for the news Barb! Pretzel misses Jack “like the desert needs the rain” I’m sure! Although she has been making new friends at Duluth’s dog park most Saturdays. Hope you’re enjoying the warm sonoran desert life, it’s back to cold as usual up here starting tomorrow. Have a great holiday, See you in the spring! Hope P.J. gets to kick the pigskin!
Ian & Pretzel
Greetings to all of you on the north shore. Ian, what a great idea re;sweatshirts. I will be sure to get one on my return! Probably another good idea would be to have matching scarves for our puppies. We have a new addtion to our family, my son and family got a English fox red lab! yes a red lab named Blaze. Blaze is three months old and already is retrieving the newspaper promptly at 6am brrrrrrrrr.
I see the winter is not too bad compared to last year. I look forward to seeing all of you this spring. Ian, did the folks with the Corgi get their new puppy?
Stay Safe, Barb and Jack Ion
Hi Barb,
Thanks for the news from sunny Arizona! We’ve got a crew neck sweatshirt marked for your arrival! No scarves yet though. They’d just end up as tug toys anyway at the dog park! I haven’t seen Garrus since the dog park closed for the season, so I don’t know if he’s got a new sibling or not. Glad to hear about Blaze. That’s a good name for a red dog!
The winter has been mild. You can come back early this year! We all hope to be snowbirds someday!

So good to see all the great efforts for our canine buddies! I remember running into you along the lake with that adorable Pretzel. I have three dogs, Dylan (lab shepherd mix), Vegas (border collie//lab mix) and Tessa (teacup yorkie). All are rescues and I adore them!! We are often in Two Harbors and I walk them for hours every day.
I hope to make it to the dog park so the pups can play! I am ordering one of the cool sweatshirts too!
Nancy Bologna
Thanks for the email Nancy! We got a hoody with your name on it! Pretzel and I haven’t seen you and the gang along the Sonju trail in a while. We should collaborate on a memoir about walking our dogs in Two Harbors…we’ll call it, “Among the fields of frozen Tansy”. Hope to see you at the dog park this summer!
